UNITED STATES GLASS CO. No. 15001 (OMN) AKA: O'Hara Diamond; Sawtooth and Star
• Pittsburgh-PA, Operated: 1891-1962, Introduced: 1892
• Motifs: Diamonds, Stars/Rosettes, Triangle
-Registered with the EAPG Society, this is a RARE stunning salad/fruit bowl that has survived over 130+ years.
-Without a doubt, this antique EAPG serving bowl is Special from top to bottom.
-The O'Hara pattern is uniquely detailed allowing for a beautiful but, simplistic elegance.
-Consider why U.S. Glass placed an almost unnoticeable, but eye-catching, rosette on the mid-row of the bowl.
-Add the 3-tier diamond cut decelerating layer up to the top edge of the bowl ending with the last layer in an almost imperfect or soft petal diamond point edge.
-This is one of the prettiest crystal "like" large EAPG salad or fruit bowls we've ever owned and used on a regular basis.
-This EAPG pattern has the honor of being the first original pattern (by number anyway) of the US Glass company and it was made in their Factory L, which was previously O'Hara Flint Glass Works prior to being acquired by US Glass in the summer of 1891. By the time US Glass No. 15001 was introduced in 1892, O'Hara Glass Co. no longer was in existence.
Measures: 8" across x 3.5 tall, 3" deep.
Condition: If it were not for one top point (see last picture) showing a small chip, this bowl is close to being pristine and/or perfect, especially given the vintage age. Video provided as well; this serving bowl has so many facets, you will see the small point chip is hard to find or see.
This bowl is registered with the EAPG Society site ~ see Facebook> https://www.eapgs.net/pattern-details.php?idx=414
